We went to Fort William with one goal in mind – to get to the top of the UK’s highest mountain – Ben Nevis.
We actually had a couple of really good walks – one along Glen Nevis to a magnificent waterfall and then the second day was a long slog up The Ben. The last bit was trudging through snow! We made it though!

Hi there, bummer with the rudder, however you seem to have made the best of it. Maybe we can catch up with you now. Are you still thinking of trying to make it to the Baltic or will you be staying in Irish and British waters?
We are planning on leaving for Kinsale in about a week from now.

your pics/stories are wonderful and remind me of the trip our family took several years ago – on one hike i almost lost a boot to the bog. we hiked up Ben Nevis later in the summer and it was a much easier climb!
Envious……never been to the top of Ben Nevis.
BTW…send Laurie to the Dale, we are replacing the carpet and even putting lino in the bathroom!!
Great job Bill & Laurie. Would never have made it to the top myself. You’re destinations must give you some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
It looks rather damp there
Beautiful pictures Bill, but I thought that you and Laura were going to sail, not walk! Sorry to hear about your mishap, but Ir appears your keeping a positive attitude. Did you say any prayers to overcome the language that I feel certain you used when Laura bent the rudder??? Travel safe, and best regards to you both.
