Contemplating our next blog post, instead of sharing our trip into Montana (which was fantastic), we thought we should perhaps describe a little about us – since we’ve only known each other for 15 weeks at this stage and we’re 50 days into the trip! Our story is one of adventure on so many different levels!

My name is Mindi and I am traveling with a gentleman that I met approximately 90+ days ago. It has been a magical and joyous ride. I met him on e-harmony. I reached out to one guy the first day. His name was Bill. He said he lived in a tiny house and liked to travel the world. He sounded like minded. We met up about a week (maybe less) later. The walk was interesting and the conversation was good. I then asked him if he would like to come over to watch the lunar eclipse a couple days later. We stayed up all night to watch a less than glorious event from my porch. During that evening, he told me of his upcoming trip to visit the National Parks in the Northwest and beyond. He asked my thoughts on doing such a journey.
We met again and I explained that I couldn’t go anywhere without my aging dogs. He said “OK, we can bring them along.” We discussed it some more and he came back to my house with his truck modified with the pups’ seats. We discussed the journey and determined that we are of like mind. We have been traveling together now for 51+ days. We find that we compliment each other in different ways. He has been kind and considerate towards me and my pups. We have been laughing and enjoying the symmetry of our personalities. We are different but alike.
We are at the Arctic Circle to plunge into the Arctic Ocean.

Bill’s perspective: We met on eharmony.com. I’d announced on my eharmony profile that after living and travelling aboard a sailboat for the past 8 years, I was planning to continue my nomadic lifestyle in my new truck and camper setup. I figured that with such an ultimatum out there, I had no chance of enticing a lady to join me at such short notice – but I might as well have some fun meeting ladies with a certain adventurous soul… Turns out, Mindi was curious about the whole proposition…
We decided our first meeting should be a walk. We met at Harris Neck Refuge about 50 miles south of Savannah. A coastal refuge where all manner of migrating critters arrive during the spring months. We strolled towards the marshy, pond area where there’s a dam of sorts – which had an Alligator atop, sunning himself! We decided to go the other way round! We circled through the woods and back along the pond, admiring the newly arrived Ibis, Egrets and many others. As we walked, we talked and talked and we sorted out our politics (check), interests (check), travel desires (check, check) and arrived back at the dam… The gator was still sunning himself! Mindi said she isn’t going around again, so decided to pass right by the 8ft gator – planning to throw her shirt over him if he moves on us… (what manner of defense is this???) What else could I do but follow? Fortunately, the gator only took mild interest in us and we survived! Gator lady had impressed!
We met again for another walk on neutral territory and then she bravely led me to her house and studio which lies right on the marshy coast of Georgia in a beautifully secluded position. Her studio apartment displayed a very artistic nature – and I soon learned she’s into all sorts of voodoo too! 😊 She and I immediately hit it off and we enjoyed discussions about anything and everything. I’ve since learned that anything normally ends up being everything as she has a certain distracted nature and tends to head off on tangents, before you recognize one is even possible! Very entertaining! We share a practical outlook and enjoy seeking solutions to problems unplanned events!
We definitely share the ‘living in the moment’ gene, but none-the-less, it was a real thrill when just a few weeks after our first meeting, she said she wanted to come with me in the camper. “How far?” “As far as we get!”
This is the developing story of how far we got!
Love it!!! Soul mates and 2 wonderful people. Enjoy the ride!!
I am so happy for you Mindi!! It sounds like a wonderful adventure. I hope you challenge Bill to his limits like you have Sissy and I. Can’t wait to follow your adventures.
